1/31/07 clinic

Today was a really good day in clinic. I had my class 2 patient monica come back in. My goal was to get at least 1 more quad or if possible then 2 more. It was difficult to communicate with her again because she doesn't speak any english. I guess it is nice because I don't need to try to communicate. I actually got 3 quads done so I got her done!!! It was very nice and I was really excited. I got her done and didn't have any spots of calculus!!!

1/29/07 Clinic

Today my husband came in. It went well, he was a very easy patient come to find out. He is a little difficult as a patient cause he asks a lot of questions, but that is just my husband for ya. I got his who mouth done so I got another 4 quads done there. He had very little if any calculus which I found harder to do becuase I never knew if I had just missed something somewhere or wasn't being careful enough. I was going to pass of PEs again, but because he didn't have enough calculus I couldn't.

Wed. Jan 24

Today my mom came in and I got her finished! She was my first patient last semester and she came back and we got her all finished. It was nice to get another few quads done. My goal was to pass off some PEs but I left them at home so I decided to do them another time. Overall it went well, I didn't have any spots of calculus left at the scale check which felt good to know that I did a good job!

Class 2 Patient

Today was a pretty good day overall. It being only our second patient day it was still very stressful but I am thinking it will still be stressful at least for a while. My goal today was to make sure and not leave as much calculus on the teeth when I called or my scale check. My patient today was a spanish lady who didn't speak a word of english which was very difficult. She was very nice, but I had to have Jeff come over and translate everything I was saying which slowed the appt. down a lot. She was a class 2 which is great because we need those and they are harder to find. I got one quad done on her and it went very well. She is coming back on the 31st. Today was a good day, as always room for improvement but it went well for only the second patient.

1st Patient Day

Today went ok. It actually went better than I expected. I thought that scaling would be a little harder than it was, but it went pretty well. I had quite a few areas that I had to go back and work on some more after the first scale check, but considering that my patient had a lot of calculus it went well I think. I got the whole lower arch done, but it took me quite a while. I think that the upper arch will go a little faster next time.

Today's clinic was ok, it was nice to learn about the area specifics. I wish there was a way that we could practice a little more than we were able to on each other. I guess when we have a patient it will be quite the experience.
